WAREHOUSE ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS

Operating in narrow aisle spaces presents unique challenges for operators.
To minimize the risks in these conditions, Toyota’s very narrow aisle (VNA) trucks can be equipped with a range of

intelligent features that make the operator’s job safer and easier.

DETECTION AND VISIBILITY

Visibility and obstacle detection are key to preventing accidents. These systems work together to keep both operators and pedestrians aware and protected.

PERSONAL PROTECTION SYSTEM (PPS)

The Personal Protection System (PPS) assists operators by detecting obstacles within the aisle. A front-mounted scanner on the truck defines two safety zones: a warning zone and a stop zone. This helps prevent potential collisions and significantly reduces the risk of human error.

BLUE LED SAFETY LIGHT

While the PPS helps drivers navigate safely, the blue LED safety light is designed to alert pedestrians. It projects a bright, focused beam onto the floor ahead of the truck, signaling the presence of approaching equipment. This visual alert is especially valuable in areas with limited visibility or heavy foot traffic, enhancing situational awareness and reducing the risk of accidents.

ASSISTANCE IN EVERY AISLE

Many advanced warehouse features rely on Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. RFID tags, which are small, maintenance-free, and battery-free, can be easily installed throughout the warehouse. When a truck’s sensor detects a tag, it receives position data and responds accordingly. This versatile technology enables a wide range of positioning and navigation options, helping your operations stay safe and efficient.

AISLE INDICATION

When trucks are locked into guide wheels or wire guidance, aisle indicators—such as RFID tags, magnets, or reflectors—signal the truck to turn off manual steering as it enters an aisle.

Additional safety can be achieved with automatic braking, triggered as the truck nears the end of an aisle.

ZONING

Tags placed throughout the aisle provide precise location awareness. This allows the truck to recognize its position and respond accordingly—such as by reducing speed near obstacles like low ceilings, sprinkler systems, ventilation shafts, or uneven flooring.

You can configure speed, lift height, or fork movement restrictions based on specific time slots or days. Each aisle can be tailored individually and adjusted as often as needed to reflect current operational requirements.

INTELLIGENT NAVIGATION

Programmed with a 3D map of your warehouse, the truck can be directed to specific pallet locations and automatically calculate the most efficient route. It adapts its speed depending on lift height—moving faster at lower levels and slowing down when elevated.

The system constantly checks the truck’s position, prevents it from entering incorrect aisles or handling the wrong pallets, and guides the driver to the correct side for picking—eliminating guesswork and improving accuracy.
